Standing on the Moon

With nothing else to do

A lovely view of Heaven

But I'd rather be with you

by Robert Hunter

The decision that he made that evening to take the drugs was not one meant to hurt anyone or himself.  He was not that type of person.  He was just trying to have fun, and his fun had a tragic ending.

Am I angry at him?  No.  I love him more than anything in the world.  Am I focusing on the last eight hours of his life or on his 5 minute decision that ended with a tragic result?  No.  I am focusing on the 20 wonderful, beautiful years that I had with him.  I am focusing on the way he could make you laugh when you were down, the 5 phone calls a day that I received from him, even when he moved to Maui, the way that he could and would join in on any discussion, the gentle hugs he would give his little sister and brother, the many packages that he sent home from Maui for Corrina and Jerry, the kind way that he treated his friends and family, the way that he always joined in on life, his surfing, skydiving, snorkeling, his love of nature, his quest to see the world, the way he could build a fire, the way that he would tell everyone that he was a mamas boy, how we got even closer after his brother Brett (16) died 9/25/02 in a car crash/explosion,  how he loved family gatherings and the food he would cook.  There was so much more to that kid then the 5 minute fatal decision that he made.
